A1 Assessors Award This course allows you to become an NVQ Assessor in your existing workplace or can help you gain employment as an assessor.  Many people progress on to the V1 Verifier course after this to further their career prospects

Certificate in Dementia Awareness (NCFE)

The Certificate in Dementia Care is a level 2 programme providing a nationally recognised qualification. The candidate will gain an understanding of how to apply person centred planning to everyday care situations with clients suffering from dementia. This course is for anyone who is supporting an individual with any form of dementia who would like a better awareness of the condition and behaviours and support that is available for the individual and carers.

Certificate in Safe Handling of Medicines (NCFE) The Certificate in Safe Handling of Medicines is a Level 2 programme providing a nationally recognised qualification. This course aims to provide students with an opportunity to gain an increased understanding of medication and its possible side effects, and to enhance their knowledge of safe administration of medication. It covers introduction to medicines and prescriptions, medicine supply, storage and disposal, the safe administration of medication and quality control. After completing this course students can progress on to the QCF Diploma in health and care.

Certificate in Safer Moving and Handling Techniques (NCFE) Level 2 This course will give health care workers an opportunity to explore issues surrounding the manual handling of patients/residents and raise awareness of the implications of incorrect moving and handling techniques in the workplace. The course is to promote good practice and develop risk assessment and problem solving skills and to reduce the risk of injury to those involved.

Certificate in Working with people with Mental Health issues (NCFE) Level 2

The qualification aims to equip learners with an understanding of mental health and mental illness and related legislation. The course also provides knowledge and awareness of the process and approaches involved in the care and management of those experience mental health issues.

 

The course also provides underpinning of support and the roles of others in the change process that people experiencing mental health issues may need. It is designed for learners working in a health-related setting. The qualification could contribute towards aspects of the NHS knowledge and Skills Framework in relation to the following.

Health and Social Care Level 2 Adult The NVQ Care programme has been primarily designed to meet the needs of individuals currently employed in Care Homes and Domicilary Care who want a recognised qualification to underpin their practical experience. The scheme includes a series of 6 hour workshops aimed at providing the essential knowledge required for successful completion of the NVQ. These workshops are linked to a concurrent programme of assessment and portfolio building. All participants will have their own assessor to guide them through the qualification and to help them build a portfolio of work related evidence. A high degree of flexibility has been built into the scheme so that participants are able to choose a package of workshops that suits their particular knowledge needs.

Health and Social Care Level 3 in Caring for Children & Young People The NVQ Care programme has been primarily designed for people who are in a supervisory position working in care settings for children and young people up to the age of 19. All participants will have their own assessor to guide them through the qualification, carry out assessments in the workplace and help them build a portfolio of work related evidence. A high degree of flexibility has been built into the scheme so that participants are able to choose assessment times that suits their particular needs.

Health and Social Care NVQ Level 3 Adult The NVQ Care Level 3 programme has been primarily designed to meet the needs of individuals currently employed in care homes or domicilary care who want a recognised qualification to underpin their practical experience. All participants will have their own assessor/mentor to guide them through the qualification, carry out assessments in the workplace and help them build a portfolio of work related evidence. A high degree of flexibility has been built into the scheme so that participants are able to choose assessment times that suits their particular needs.
