This course allows you to become an NVQ Assessor in your existing workplace or can help you gain employment as an assessor. Many people progress on to the V1 Verifier course after this to further their career prospects.
Children's Care, Learning and Development Level 2 This course is designed as the first step for those who are interested in working with children from 0 - 16 years old. The qualification is assessed mainly in the workplace. As a non-exam based course, a portfolio of evidence is completed by the student.
Children's Care, Learning and Development Level 3
This course is designed for those who are working in a Child Care environment in a supervisory role with children from 0 - 16 years old.
The qualification is assessed mainly in the workplace. As a non-exam based course, a portfolio of evidence is completed by the student.
Early Years Professional Status (EYPS) EYPS is awarded to graduates who can demonstrate they meet a set of 39 national and professional Standards when working with children from birth to five years of age. The Standards set out the knowledge, understanding, skills and other professional attributes that an EYP will need.
First Aid for Child Carers
This course will be run by a professional first aid training organisation, staffed by paramedics, technicians, nurses and advanced level first aiders, all of whom have appropriate experience and certification to teach the subject.
The course covers the basic issues surrounding first aid for child carers and is designed for those who are thinking of working with children, or who are working with children and have no previous first aid experience.
The medical terms, definitions and practical demonstrations are explained to allow the student to gain a wider knowledge and understanding of the practices surrounding general issues connected with first aid for child carers.
Increased flexibility Caring for children Level 1 This is a Level 1 course which provides an introduction to working with children between the ages of 0-8 years.
Introduction to Childcare Practice (Home-Based) Unit 1 – Level 3 Diploma in Home based Childcare The course covers the basic issues relating to childminding practice and provides candidates with a recognised certificate which meets OFSTED requirements (now compulsory for childminders.) Successful completion of the ICP also allows students to continue their studies to achieve the full qualification in DHB childcare. This course also allows nannies to seek approval under the Childcare Approval Scheme.

NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools This course applies to anyone who provides direct support for teaching and learning in any type of school - primary, secondary, special or pupil referral units. It has been developed to reflect changes in support staff roles following implementation of workforce reform. It covers the role of teaching assistant, but has been broadened in scope to include new roles and responsibilities such as cover supervision, exam invigilation and pastoral care.
