Adults in the Community This course is designed for adults with learning difficulties. It gives them opportunities to continue to develop their independent living skills and to access learning that will enhance and enrich their lives.

Community Access The course is designed to give students the opportunity to investigate their local community and experience a wider range of facilities available to them. Involvement in the Enterprise business also gives students the opportunity to get a taster of work in a supported environment. The course aims to provide opportunities for students to develop practical skills for living with greater independence. To give students the opportunity to explore leisure activities and utilise community facilities. To enpower students to be proactive partners in their own learning and development.

Community Awareness The course is designed to give students the opportunity to investigate their local community and experience a wider range of the facilities available to them. Involvement in the Enterprise business also gives students the opportunity to get a taster of work in a supported environment. The course aims to enable students to get a taste of work in a supported environment through enterprise activities. To provide opportunities for students to develop practical skills for living with greater independence. To give students the opportunity to investigate leisure activities and facilities in the community.To empower students to be proactive partners in their own learning and development.

Life Skills The course has been designed to equip students with skills that will enable them to live successfully in supported environment. It will provide opportunities for students to develop their independence through practical activities that are directly related to life skills. The timetable will be structured to enable small groups of students to undertake activities on a day/session long basis. This ensures learners are given the time and support they require to develop as an individual as well as part of a team. The course aims provide opportunities for students to develop independence skills. To enable students to develop practical skills for living in a supported environment. To provide students with the opportunities to be proactive partners in their own learning and development.

Promoting Community To enable students to have opportunities to investigate and experience leisure facilities in the community to increase their awareness of options available to them in the community.

Promoting Independence For students to become more aware of independence issues and by the end of the course students will be able to take part in some independent activities.

Routes to Work The course aims to provide opportunities for students to participate in regular, job coached, work placements. To establish links with external Pre-Employment training providers in the local area (Pathway Mencap) to extend their learning experience. To prepare students for permanent work. To empower students to be proactive partners in their own learning and development.

Supported Independence For students to have opportunities to learn about independence skills/independent living skills. By the end of the course students will have had the opportunity to experience participating in some independent living activities.

Vocational Access The course aims to provide practical vocational tasters that will help inform students' choices in the future. To equip students with the knowledge and skills required to undertake employment. To empower student's to be proactive partners in their own learning and development.

Work Preparation The course will provide students with practical support to carry out successful experience of work. The course aims to prepare students for permanent work or pre-employment training schemes. To enpower students to be proactive partners in their own learning and development.

Workability The course is based upon giving the students the opportunity to learn about practical work skills and to work successfully with others while continuing to develop independence skills.
