Qualification

Students who successfully complete the programme will be awarded the Foundation Degree (FdA) in Supporting Learning and Teaching by Roehampton University

Attendance

This is a work based full time degree - students will attend college one evening per week 4.30-9.00pm, approximately one Saturday per term

Description of the Course

This course has been designed to provide a flexible programme that will meet the needs of all those individuals currently working to support teaching and learning

It is particularly suitable for teaching assistants, learning support workers and volunteers who require a professional development programme linked to a recognised undergraduate qualification and an opportunity to achieve the HLTA National Standards

Who is the course for?

Individuals employed in primary schools, secondary schools, independent schools and colleges of further education who provide technical support, language support, behaviour support or learning support

Entry requirements

All applicants are required to have a minimum of one year‘s experience of working as a teaching assistant, learning support worker or as a volunteer. Must be able to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment and have the equivalent of C grades in GCSE English and Mathematics so able to support learning in Communication and Numeracy

What can I do after this course?

On successful completion of the programme students will have an opportunity of progressing to an honours degree.

Other information

Students may secure sponsorship for their studies from their employer. Students are eligible to apply for funds from the government's Higher Education Student Loan Scheme and to their Local Education Authority for help with paying tuition fees
