Description of the Course
The DTLLS and PGCE is designed to meet the needs of teachers in further and/or Adult and Community Education and trainers in the private and public sector as well as those working with 14-19 year olds in vocational settings.
It has been developed from high quality existing provision to fulfill all the new requirements for the expanding Lifelong Sector as specified by Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK).

Module 2 Planning and Assessing for Learning
Module 3 Theory in Professional Practice
Year 2 DTLLS/PGCE
Module 4 Professional Development
Module 5 Curriculum Studies
Module 6 Professional Investigation
Assessment
Assessment is via submission of written and other programme tasks, reflection, professional development planning and through practical teaching observation.
Who is the course for?
DTLLS Year 1 (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector) This course is suitable for those who are already teaching. The PTLLS certificate is included within the DTLLS Course. DTLLS Year 2 (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
Entry requirements
Those enrolling will normally possess at least a minimum level 3 qualification in their own area of specialism. A teacher is expected to be vocationally qualified to a minimum of one level above that of the course he/she is teaching on. Applicants must be able to demonstrate at interview their ability to benefit from the programme and to meet the 25 hours teaching per module for all 6 modules over the two years of the programme. A Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy are desirable. PGCE candidates must hold a first degree.
What can I do after this course?
On completion of the teaching awards there will be an opportunity to apply for Foundation Degree.
