Who is the course for?
Ideally the course would be accessed after the Study and Life Preparation course. The Study Life Preparation course encourages the students to acquire the practical life and independence skills required to make the most of everyday life. Many of those skills will provide a sound basis for Vocational Preparation and 16+ students that have just completed their compulsory education.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements. This course is appropriate for students with moderate learning difficulties who possess some literacy and numeracy skills at Entry 2.
What can I do after this course?
The course has a clear progression route which allows students to go on to access the Transition to Work course or Vocational courses across the college.
Other information
Staffing
Students will have a group tutor who will be responsible for the well being of each individual and provide pastoral support where necessary. Each tutor group will have a group learning support worker to assist students in their learning.
Monitoring the Learning
Students will have an individual learning plan. This plan provides students with the opportunity to take responsibility for their own learning, logging and monitoring tasks as the course progresses. In consultation with their tutor, the students will identify their own aspirations and goals for learning, which will be monitored through the individual plan.
