ACS CCN1 3 Day Refresher Training The training will take 3 days and is designed to give operatives the opportunity to update their knowledge and inform them of regulatory changes that may have occurred since the sat their last assessment.

ACS CCN1 5 Day Training The training will take 5 days and is designed to give operatives the opportunity to update their knowledge and inform them of regulatory changes that may have occurred since the sat their last assessment.

ACS CPA1 Combustion Performance Analysis Assessment The training (if required) will take ½ a day and the assessment ½ a day. This is a stand alone assessment which concentrates on gas appliance combustion performance (CO or CO2 ratio) and does not assess CO or CO2 levels in buildings.

Asbestos in the Workplace - Awareness Training & Assessment

This training and assessment course concentrates on making construction operatives aware of the hazards and health & safety requirements for themselves and others when encountering asbestos material in the workplace.

Carbon Monoxide Awareness Training and Assessment There will be a short review of the Gas regulations and the duties of the emergency provider. Appreciation of gas appliances and meters.
Duties and responsibilities of Gas Safe Engineers
The course will train you to a level of competence needed to carryout successful performance analysis using electronic combustion testing equipment, in accordance with the current standards. This will include instruction and guidance on the application and use of suitable sampling probes. The Importance of correct Ventilation for open and flue less gas burning appliances. New gas cooker regulations for flats and multi occupancy dwellings.

How to carryout safely and effectively a room/building sweep to trace the source of Carbon Monoxide within the room/building and how to visually identify dangerous gas burning appliances. Gas escapes notifications.

 Who and how to report a dangerous occurrence in a domestic dwelling and basic safety measures when finding/reporting and incidence of CO.

You will be trained using Gas Analysing equipment and a range of domestic gas fired appliance.

CCN 1 Core Gas Safety (ACS) Assessment Day 1: Will be taken up by theory assessments.
Day 2: Will be the practical assessment tasks listed below.

Central heating Controls course This course is designed for gas / heating engineers and electricians who need to have a knowledge of domestic central heating controls.

Combination Boiler Fault Finding Course

Control of Legionella (ACoP and Guidance note L8) With the increased publicity surrounding recent outbreaks of Legionnaires, effective water treatment is of paramount importance to those carrying out installation & maintenance of hot & cold water supply systems and to those who are responsible for managing the properties and for employed and self employers workers who will be working on water storage systems, for Hostels, Charities, Universities & Colleges, Local Authorities, Managing Agents, Landlords in the private sector, Housing Associations, Hoteliers, B&B, Guest house and Holiday Camp owners.

The Legionella and water treatment course is designed to enable installers to understand the requirements of applicable regulations, HSE guidance (ACoP), British Standards and Water Regulations.

Furthermore it gives them an appreciation of the Legionella bacteria, its formation and associated health risks. On completion of the course the installer will be able to undertake risk assessments and carry out disinfection using a range of methods.

ERS Central Heating Design, Installation & Maintenance The course duration is one evening a week (6.00 pm to 9.00 pm) over 36 weeks during the normal college term times. At the end of the course there is a written assessment with an 80% pass mark. To be eligible to take the assessment leaners are advised that 80% attendance is required.

Successful completion will give the following ACoP modules: -

  • ACoP 3 Flues & Ventilation
  • ACoP 4 Pressure & Flow
  • ACoP 5 Domestic Pipe work Installation

  • ACoP 8 Design, Heat Loss and Comfort Conditions
  • ACoP 14 Fault Diagnosis, Service and Maintenance

Guild of Gas Fitters Certification Course The course duration is 1 day per week for 14 weeks and consists of both theory and practical instruction in basic gas safety training.

Once you have successfully completed the course you will be awarded 'The Guild of Gas Fitters Certificate' from the awarding body E.R.S. To ensure certification you must as a minimum attain the following:

  • 80% attendance over the 14 week course
  • 80% pass mark on each of the week 5 exams
  • 100% pass mark on week 13 theory examination
  • 100% pass mark on week 14 practical examination
  • completion of the E.R.S portfolio
  • payment (in full) of ALL course fees

The Guild of Gas Fitters Certificate certifies that the holder has successfully completed and demonstrated their competence on a basic domestic natural gas safety course only. It does not certify that the holder is qualified or experienced in gas work, plumbing or any other discipline.

Part L Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating The LOGIC CERTIFICATION/IDHEE* Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating Certificate is aimed at the professional heating installer who works in domestic properties. This course will prepare you for “self certification” as per the amendments to “Part L” Building Regulations came into operation in April of this year. The certificate will demonstrate your competence and is recognised by CORGI and the Energy Savings Trust.

Part P Electrical Safety in Dwellings (Defined scope)

This course is designed for gas / heating engineers who need to comply with Part P of the buildings regulations and prove that they are competent to carry out electrical work in dwellings. This qualification will allow candidates to become members of a competent person’s scheme.

Safe Working at Heights
The Safe Working at heights course (WAH) has been implemented to comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and other legislation, which impacts on height and safety.

You will look at Part 1, part 2 and part 3 of the Regulations.
