Description of the course

This Level 1 qualificationcovers the basic technical needs for today's motor vehicle repair industry. It provides essential knowledge for service technicians working on light vehicles (cars and vans) in all types of garages, dealership and maintenance depots.  It is a learning programme which involves studens studying both theory and practical aspects of the following:

  • Health and Safety for Motor Vehicle studies
  • Introduction to engineering, equipment and materials
  • Introduction to braking, steering and suspension systems
  • Introduction to wheet, tyre and exhaust systems
  • Introduction to vehicle electrical systems 

Assessments

  • Observation of practical work
  • Written assessment
  • Oral assessments
