The Level 2 Extended Certificate in Creative Media Skills is an exciting and challenging course which encourages you to gain media specific theoretical writing skills, technical and practical skills and media specific knowledge, enabling you to make informed choices with regard to a future career. The Level 2 is a nationally recognised qualification designed to prepare young people for the real world through practical activities and industry-fit-for-purpose assessments. Alongside the course you will be able to retake those all-important English and Maths GCSEs.

  • Entry Requirements


    We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

    You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

    4 x GCSE's at D/3 or above, or a Level 1 Diploma in a relevant subject.

    Your GCSE profile must include either maths and / or English , or a Functional Skills qualification in maths and / or English.

  • Course Content


    This qualification has been developed in consultation with employers in the digital audio/visual sector to ensure that you develop the skills and behaviours that give you the best opportunity to be successful in applying for apprenticeships and further education. Learners will cover Research, Planning and Pitching a Media Product, Moving Image Production, Editing for Moving Image, Audio Production, Lighting and Filming. The course aims to develop a foundation of skills, knowledge and behaviours expected by employers in the media production sector of the Creative Industries.

    The L2 Extended Certificate in Creative Media Skills is an ideal route for students looking to progress to a BTEC Level 3 in Creative Media, Digital Design, Games Design, Graphic Design or Photography. Many students progress to a related Apprenticeship or to employment.
