NCFE Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in Policing

Our Level 3 qualifications are 2 year full time courses. At the end of year 1 you will achieve the L3 Diploma in Policing (equivalent to 1.5 A levels), and at the end of year 2 you will achieve the L3 Extended Diploma in Policing (equivalent to 3 A levels).

  • Entry Requirements


    We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

    You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other this will include attendance. This is to ensure we can support to be able to achieve well on the course. Applicants with 85% or below attendance will have been deemed not to have met this criterion.

    All applicants are given an opportunity to discuss any evidence- based mitigating circumstances that may have affected the reference / school report.

    For admission on to Extended Diploma pathway (3x A-level equivalent over two years) you will need 4 x GCSE's at C/4 or above, or a Level 2 Extended Certificate or above, at Merit or above, in a relevant subject. Including English and/or maths GSCE at C/4 or above or Functional skills Level 2 in English and/or maths.

    These units are an excellent combination of practical and theory-based units with policing specific elements as well as developing vital transferable skills.

  • Progression Next Steps


    The Extended Diploma Policing it is aimed at learners who want to progress into the police services or on to university for the degree in Policing, or a Criminology degree. Entry in to police can also now be gained via apprenticeships, directly to the constabulary and the post-graduate Police Now programme.

    There is a good balance between coursework and practical work so this course will test your knowledge and skills. You will also develop critical skills such as leadership & teamwork skills.

    On your course you will be assessed through a variety of methods which may include:

    Assignments are assessed each term. There will be frequent 1:1 support from lecturers to help develop your skills and work, along with group activities and class exercises.
