2011 Comic Relief Activities

Red Nose Day

Carshalton College students were busy organising activities to raise money for Comic Relief in the week leading up to Red Nose Day on Friday 18 March 2011 and raised a total of £503.00.

It started on Monday 14 March with the Hair and Beauty department running a mini nail painting session where you could have your nails painted for a donation of £1.50.

The Student Union thought of fun ways to raise money and asked staff and students to guess the amount of sweets in a jar and encouraged male staff from the Student Enrichment team to have their legs waxed. This activity proved popular with other staff members and raised the most cash before Ross Williams and Paul Warnett had the backs of their legs waxed on Friday afternoon by the Beauty team. They also collected money with charity buckets around the College.

The Child Care and Health & Social Care Department invited students and their children to join their Comic Relief Pirates and Princesses Tea Party. The Tea Party was held on Wednesday, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm with a £2 entry fee as donation for Comic Relief and they collected £183.54.

The catering team organised a cake sale and an omelette competition in the kitchens on Friday. Future activities include a Staff veruses Student Football match on Wednesday 27 April where staff are dying their hair red and paying £2.00 each to compete.
