Carshalton College will be joining the local community at the St Helier Festival on Saturday 16 June from 12.00noon to 5.00pm. Staff and students will be returning for the third year with a College stand to provide demonstrations and information on all the courses available at the Carshalton College.
The festival is organised by the local council as part of a programme of free Summer events to let residents know about facilities and services available in their community. The festival, which takes place in Middleton Road next to Sutton Arena Leisure Centre, is expecting over 6,000 visitors to visit during the day. Previous performers at the festival have included bands from Carshalton Boys Sports College, an Elvis tribute act and swing dance troupe, Surrey Jive.
Frank Berry and Karen Price from the Sutton Federation of Tenant and Residents Association are looking forward to running the event again
"We are glad to say last year’s St Helier festival was a great day. It was fantastic to see all the community not just from St Helier but from all over the borough come together for a great day. I am also delighted to tell you that the artistic section was a great contributory factor to the festival and a must for this year. Well over 6,000 people attended the event and we have had so many people asking us to do this again."
Tutors from a variety of departments including Renaissance Hair and Beauty Salons, Construction, IT, Music, Sport and Public Services will be available to give advice and talk about the their courses in more detail. Visitors will be able to pick up discounts for future treatments at the College’s in house training hair and beauty salons, Renaissance and for savings off bookings at their training restaurant, Nightingales.
