This course gives you the opportunity to continue learn important skills and knowledge to carry out a range of tasks that are used on a construction site on a daily basis such as painting and decorating, joinery, tiling, plumbing, electrical and site carpentry and will be useful from day one for working in construction and also DIY at your home!

Additionally you will cover units that delve into the way that building sites operate and the planning that goes into building work, such as Construction methods and Techniques, safe working practice and safe working at height

You'll visit trade shows site visits and have the opportunity to go on work experience . If you complete the course successfully, you will be in a position to progress into employment or continue your learning on another course at the college, including apprenticeships

  • Entry Requirements


    We will invite you to a 'Meet the Tutor' event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

    You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

    4 x GCSE's at D/3 or above, or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject.

    Your GCSE profile must include either maths and / or English, or a Functional Skills qualification in maths and / or English.

  • Course Content


    This course is for students who want to work as a multi-skilled operative in the construction industry. As well as plumbing and electrical, tiling, painting and decorating, and carpentry and joinery, there are also opportunities to become a site agent, contracts manager or self-employed contract operator. This course provides you with the practical skills you need in order to gain a working knowledge of construction trades, allowing you to build a successful career within the industry.
