Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)

A little bit extra could take you a long way...
So you're looking forward to starting college but let's face it, you could do with a little bit of extra cash. The Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) could be the answer for you.

The EMA is a weekly payment and bonus scheme; the money is to help you with travel expenses, books or equipment, whatever you need to support you during your studies. This payment is paid directly into your bank or post office account.

Haven't decided which college you are going to yet, let alone what course to study? It doesn't matter, apply now so when you start, so will your money!

To find out if you are eligible, or to order an application form online, visit http://www.ema.dfes.gov.uk/ or call the EMA National Free phone advice line on
0800 121 8989.

For more advice or to find out if you qualify for EMA, contact our on-site EMA Administrator on 020 8544 3012.

Access/Welfare Fund

In cases of hardship and other difficult circumstances, the College can provide financial help through the Access/Welfare Fund (Learner Support Fund). This has been set up to help students complete their learning when outside factors may be getting in the way. If you feel that you need help from the fund, contact the advice and Guidance Centre and they will help you apply.

Army FE Bursary Scheme

If you're aged between 16-32 and are thinking about going into Further Education then the army can offer you up to £2000 and a job at the end of your course. This is open to students on a range of qualifications from Public Services to Music. For more information regarding this funding, visit: http://www.armyjobs.mod.uk/
