An extensive range of qualifications is offered at Kingston College to people considering a career working with children and young people. You will develop a knowledge and awareness of the types of provision in the Children’s and Young People’s sectors. This includes the roles played by workers – from principles and values through to health and safety, understanding specialist provision, inclusion and working with others. Past students have progressed on to higher education at degree level, and the flexibility of these courses means that you may progress your study alongside working in the sector.
Students benefit from learning in a nursery setting in our Little Plumbs Nursery, a large, colourful room divided into carefully planned interest areas. Our calming and therapeutic Sensory Room offers a unique way to explore the five senses with lights, colours, sounds and sensory soft play resources.
"I am more confident in my academic study and this could not have happened without the amazing support and encouragement from the teachers." Hamin Lim, Childcare & Early Years Student
Studying at Kingston College has enabled me to become more confident in terms of my academic study and this could not have happened without the amazing support and encouragement from the teachers. I am grateful for their help and would like to thank all the teachers who made this journey possible.
The part I loved about this course was taking part in practical placements which I could then apply theory to my own experience. This will give me a huge advantage at university as I have worked with various age groups. It has been a very challenging 2 years studying in a new environment but with a huge success I am able to move onto the next steps in my future.

Why did you choose the course / subject?
I wanted to become a Primary School Teacher.
What are the most enjoyable aspects or highlights of your course?
Making life long friendships and receiving some amazing learning opportunities, great support from tutors and having someone believe in you.
Did you complete any work experience and if so how did it help with your studies?
I worked through my Foundation and BA year at a setting wher I was already working. It really enabled me to put the theory I was learning into practice.
What are your hopes/goals/plans for the future?
I wanted to become a Primary School Teacher. I went on to study a BA in Early Years Teaching and Learning at Kingston Hill. Then I did SCITT training. I now work for a lovely school as an Early Years Teacher (EYT). I teach the Nursery Class and am so happy with where I am now.
Do you have any advice for other potential students looking to enrol?
This course will change your life. It transformed mine and I couldnt be happier. I now feel confident in delivering first class learning experiences. I have really improved my pedagogy and have a deeper understanding of the Early Years. I have recently been given a leadership role within the school and am using the knowledge I gained during my time at Kingston College and uni to support my new role and develop my provision. Thank you so much to everyone at Kingston College, Gill Plumb and the ladies were fantastic tutors and really supported us with everything and beyond. Brilliant, 100% do it.
